Lucy is SEVEN
What a joy to celebrate this little sweet thing!
The celebrating began on her birthday eve. The Coppingers and Gooches hosted us all for dinner since Jack and Roxanne were visiting. They included a few little gifts for Lucy and birthday cupcakes and candles. Very sweet!
After a late-ish night out. I was anticipating Lucy would sleep in a little on her birthday. But I'm glad I did the decorating the night before, because Birthday Girl woke up at 5am!! She had a few hours to look at presents, play with balloons and wait for her breakfast-of-choice. We had banana and nutella crepes for breakfast and got the day started. Once we were ready, the grandparents took Lucy to Books-a-Million to choose her gift. She was pretty excited. "That is the perfect place to go because I pretty much want everything I see there!" She came home with a Hatchimals "Party Jungle," which she has very much enjoyed :)
Lunch of choice was homemade mac and cheese and honeydew, which I could not find. She was content with a cantelope substitution and ate at least half of it! The moment to get Luke and get the party going finally came a little before 4:00. Lucy had chosen Putt-putt as her party activity. We had a great time. On the first hole, Lucy slammed her ball through the fence and into the parking lot! I hadn't golfed with her in a long time, but Jack and Roxanne just laughed because they knew this was her mode! Thankfully, after the first hole, she kept it on the green :) We were the only people there on a sunny late afternoon. Perfect!
Predictably, dinner was sushi at Fuji, which everyone enjoyed! When we got home, it was finally time for long-awaited presents! From us, Lucy got a Y-Flikka scooter and some books. Isaiah and Noelle gave her a calendar. Mimi & Pa gave her a super cute sweatshirt, a fun big crayon, and a jewelry making kit. She loved it all! Dessert was ice cream sundaes with all hand-picked ingredients. Mint chocolate chip ice cream, a HUGE bottle of chocolate syrup, whipped cream, sprinkles, and cherries.
My goodness it was a treat to celebrate Lucy Lu. She has been bringing smiles and laughter to our family for 7 years! These days, you can often find her curled up with a chapter book, playing with little things (princesses, hatchimals, popsicle-stick families...), writing notes to Noelle or drawing/coloring. She loves CC days, mostly because she is so happy with Lucy, Mylie, Clover, and the other little girls there. I see her as a loyal friend! She is very often in mis-matched inside-out socks. She says she just puts them on however she grabs them! This is one of the things she just doesn't care much about. She doesn't have much of an opinion on what she wears, what her hair looks like, or what we do. She DOES have opinions on what she eats and how quickly I would like for her to get her chores done. She definitely gets lost in la-la land a lot, but she can also stay focused when she wants to. She adores her big sister, teases her big brother, and gives Vi a LOT of attention. She gets comments from others about how cute, pretty, and smart she is, and we agree! Very often, she will make some thoughtful connection when I'm reading aloud to them that amazes me. Or, during Morning Time, when her head is in the crack of the couch and her bottom is in the air, she'll flip around and say something often silly, but sometimes surprisingly insightful! Even when she seems in La-la land, there is a lot going on in that sweet little head! And pretty much my favorite moment of every day happens at the start, when I get a big Lucy hug and snuggle with, "Good mornin', Momma!"
WE LOVE YOU, LUCIA JANE! And we are absolutely honored and blessed to be your family and watch you grow up! God is going to do great things in and through you!!!
