Our summer travels took us all the way across Texas to Tucson to celebrate Nanna & Poppa's 70th wedding anniversary and 90th birthdays. The drive across TX was a long and hot one, but we were very happy to discover an awesome Mexican restaurant waiting for our weary selves. Amazing salsa, quick service, and a gymnastics finals on a TV within eyeshot of some very interested kiddos. We headed to our hotel which, in spite of decent reviews, smelled of smoke and felt damp and gross. It was a "keep your shoes on" and "get off the floor" kind of hotel, but we kept promising the kids that the next night would be much nicer accommodations. They didn't really mind the gross hotel, though. It was an adventure, and wonderful to be out of the car. We all snuggled up on the hideaway bed for some more gymnastics on TV before getting a long night of sleep. The next day, we made our way to Tucson and a lovely resort!
We stayed in a 3 bedroom suite, which was perfect for the Tallon/Huffman crew. The rest of the extended family was scattered around the resort, ready to enjoy the sunshine, pools, and especially to honor Roscoe & Vivian.

This is probably my favorite pic of the trip. These cousins are ready for an early morning adventure before the pools opened! We hiked, sat, and visited before making our way to the pools just as they opened.
Our back porch was a good place for handing out, hunting for pretty little rocks, and watching a tarantula!
Nanna was recovering from a fall and not feeling wonderful, but she really perked up for the great grandkids. She wasn't able to go to church with us, so we brought church to her before services. It was a very sweet time and a blessing to honor her and Poppa. Their legacy of faith has extended to their great-grandchildren!
We liked the pools best early in the morning before the rest of the resort woke up!

The main celebration happened on the evening of July 4 - Vivian's 90th birthday. We gathered in Truda's suite for cakes, gifts, pictures, and time together. The party concluded with a perfect fireworks show. We lay on lied on the grassy hill outside one of the suites and watched the fireworks explode right in front of us. We snacked, oohed & aaahed, and were thankful for these special days together.
