Isaiah also had a great soccer season. I think he was surprised to find out that soccer requires skill and practice - it's a lot more than just kicking a ball! His coach was a pediatrician with 7 kids. We actually went to her as our dr. when we first arrived in Longview and switched because she was too laid back for me. Not a great pediatrician for us... but a great coach! The team was "Angry Birds" which Isaiah didn't like at first - sounded t0o silly and non-threatening. Coach also asked them all to choose a nickname. So the team had Pigeon, Flash, Vito and... Falcon! Isaiah chose the most threatening and skilled bird he could think of. It was so funny to us to hear the coach and other parents/teammates cheering on 'Falcon'.
Noelle was too cute at Isaiah's last game. The boots... the uniform... the sweatshirt.
I didn't get a lot of great shots, since he was on the other side of the field most of the game. But, he played very well! He found his groove in defense. His assistant coach was very impressed with him - especially since he was the only kid on the team who had never played. He worked hard, listened well, and enjoyed it.
Before the last game, he had decided that it was a good experience, but he would rather do something else next year. Basketball and baseball are really his favorites. But, then... the first goal!! I didn't get a pic of it, but I tried to capture that excited, proud smile afterwards! Now that he has scored a goal... he's a little more eager to play again next year.
He was given the "Thundercloud" award because he could sneak up and attack!
