The Boy who turned NINE

There was once an incredible boy who turned 9 on August 19, 2015.  On his birthday eve, he could not sleep.  He was full of a excitement over turning 9 and some real mourning over ending his season of being an 8 year old kid.  8 suited him well.  Once morning came, he was ready to jump into his new identity.

His littlest sister helped make his breakfast of choice - chocolate chip pancakes.

After breakfast, he got to open his gifts including Minecraft on the tablet (from Noelle), books, a rock collection, Seven Wonders game, a glow in the dark lego shirt (chosen by Lucy), and some money to spend at NASA next week.

His dad headed to work and his momma took him outside with her camera for some 9 year old son pics.

He has always been easily distracted by fascinating finds -

Little sister came to join in the photo party -

A gust of wind surprised us with a flurry of yellow leaves coming down.  "It's fall!!"  They ran around trying to catch the leaves swirling around them.

The 9 year old requested a trip to Puttputt, and his mom and sisters were happy to oblige -

His mom splurged for tokens for the arcade and the 9 year old hit the jackpot!!

On the way home, we stopped for the birthday boy's lunch request - brie and cranberry sandwiches.  I spent the afternoon making cake while he spent the afternoon exploring Minecraft.  For dinner, the fam ended up at church eating Cane's while the parents had a meeting.  By the time we finally got home, the sweet birthday boy was exhausted.  Almost too worn out for cake!  We managed quick candles, singing, and cake eating before shuttling everyone off to bed.  The big celebration for this kid comes next week.  We're headed to the NASA Space Center in Houston.  Woohoo!
