Yesterday was a perfect, cozy fall day. It was windy and cold outside. Isaiah and I stayed in all day with chili cooking in the crock pot and apple cider on the stove. Then, in the evening, our friends, Ian and Corrie, came over for pumpkin carving (or "poke-in making", as Isaiah says). It was so much fun to watch him get really excited about the whole experience. He loved every step of it - cutting off the top, scooping out the seeds and gooey stuff, drawing a face with Daddy's help, and then peeking inside to see the candle burning. Today, he's been munching on roasted "poke-in seeds" and requesting the candle in his pumpkin to be continually lit.
Then, this evening, we got to have another much-loved fall experience... leftover chili and a real American football game! The BBC was airing an NFL game being played in London. This is our fourth fall without football, and we really miss it; Luke - because he pays attention and enjoys the game, me - because I just like the sound of it and the ambiance of having a game on and watching the occasional 5 or 10 full minutes. Isaiah wasn't too interested, so we'll have to convert him next year (hopefully!).
