We are full of memories of "last year at this time" when the world was shutting down in the face of covid. We remember quick trips to the grocery store with sanitizer, masks, and lysol, stocking up on weeks of food and medicine. I still have a drawer full of Mucinex because that seemed to be something we might need a lot of!
Anyway, life looks quite a bit different this year, which is a blessing.
Saturday - Luke and I got our 2nd covid shots, meaning we are fully vaccinated for 6 months... or a year... or a decade... No one really knows yet.
Sunday - Palm Sunday - We hosted the final Driveway Church, which was a little quiet. The Silverthornes were out camping and Luke and I were feeling puny from the shot. I made it through communion then went back to bed for a few hours. We had an "End of Season" basketball party out at the Wright's house for the boys team in the evening. Luke presented awards to the boys. Isaiah got - Isaiah "Leatherman" Tallon for being ready and useful in every position he played. It was a sweet end of an era, Luke coaching Isaiah and those boys. I'm so proud of both Luke and Isaiah. (Luke's excited to coach Noelle's team next year!).
Monday the kids started back with Swim Team. It was Lucy's first time, and she was sure excited to finally wear that swim cap, new suit, and goggles! The bummer was she was stung by a wasp.. inside... a few minutes after Luke dropped her off! She was brave and she was a trooper! (Her poor little foot ended up swollen for 3 days though!). Isaiah's excited to be bumped up to the Yellow group, and he's definitely worn out after 90 minutes of hard swimming. Noelle's happy to be back in the Green group!
Tuesday was a CC. We are all so thankful for our community. Such an awesome blessing.
On Wednesday, we had a field trip!! It's been a LONG time since we have had one, and it was so much fun. We went to a candy shop in Mount Pleasant for a mini Willy Wonka experience. So fun!
Thursday included school, a few little April Fools Day tricks (cue plastic elephant behind Luke's pillow and a funny gif from Isaiah). I did a little trick on the Prudentia kids by making them do some "vocal exercises," which was fun. We had our last STOA gathering and finalized plans for our Open House next week. We celebrated with cupcakes and gave thanks to God for a great first year for this little club.
On Friday, Noelle headed to Lake Margaret with Chandler and friends for a birthday celebration at the lake. She got to try stand-up paddle boarding and have a fun day of adventuring. Isaiah helped out with a Challenge service project at the Arboretum before finishing up his school and heading to swim. Lucy was puny with cold/fever for the day, so she spent most of the beautiful (!) day tucked in with a book or kindle. I made hot cross buns and spent several hours doing school in the backyard. Really beatuiful day.
On Saturday, Luke and I headed to LeTu so I could do a counseling role play, everyone did chores, Isaiah went to the Masons' for Christopher's bday party, we watched 2 basketball games with William (March Madness!), Coppingers stopped by with Easter goodies, we ate pizza, I took a quiz, and we made resurrection cookies.
Today is Easter Sunday. We opened Easter baskets (books, flip flops, swim bags, and candy) and had breakfast (sausage balls, resurrection cookies, fruit). We are now enjoying a peaceful, quiet Easter morning. We are about to do family church and will join the neighbors for a potluck and egg hunt this evening.
