Let's go to Canada!

The Five Iron Frenzy song played in the background of my mind for the weeks leading up to my trip to see Adriel and her family in Halifax. I had always wanted to go to Canada and always wanted to visit her. Luke and I consulted our budget and our calendar and decided to make it happen. It was such a treat!

Once I was finally at DFW and had navigated crawling through the trunk to retrieve the key I had locked in the car, I was feeling good. The travel was long, but smooth, and I loved having some hours in International airports. It was so refreshing to hear other languages, to eat good bread (even in the airport), to finally try Tim Horton's, and I didn't mind being called Madam!

My time in Halifax was delightful. The Drivers live in a darling neighborhood in a house with great character and charm. It was a treat to do regular life with them - walking the girls to school, eating family dinners, going to church. And we got to do some special activities because I was there - apple picking, touring the indoor market, walking along the harbor, visiting Peggy's Cove, and eating poutine/croissants/seafood chowder/lobster rolls! It was a perfectly delightful time to be there, with leaves changing colors and the air chilly and crisp. My time with Adriel was inspiring and encouraging. She has such a presence of grace, wisdom, and peace. And it was a treat to reconnect with Daniel and get to know Liviya, Cora, and Bea in this stage of life.

Luke and the kids held down the fort and enjoyed being spoiled by food from Sharon. They managed some school work, swim lessons, church, and a trip to the zoo. They were all happy to have me home, but I think everyone enjoys the freedom and change of pace when Dad is in charge!
