Family Home Christmas

Friday, Dec 14 was a much-anticipated day in the Tallon house! With eager anticipation, everyone popped out of bed ready for Christmas! We started the morning with smiles and giggles and choosing "before breakfast" gifts. Noelle got a cross stitch and embroidery book, Lucy got scent putty, and Isaiah got Kerbal (again) for the computer. Everyone happily enjoyed their things while I got breakfast on the table - french toast casserole, bacon, and fruit. We ate and finished the Jesse Tree, linking all of the sweet, joyful anticipation and peace we have at Christmas to the true GIFT of Jesus.

The first things we opened were the cards that Lucy had made for everyone (including Violet). I had found a list a few weeks before of gift ideas she had thought of for each of us. At the top of the list under each of our names was "big speshul card." So sweet.

Noelle made me a yarn pompom heart and a card :)

Opening gifts is such a delight to all of us - the givers, the idea-ers, the shoppers, the wrappers, the openers. Each gift is a delight. Lucy got super cute bunny slippers from Isaiah and Noelle (which they wrapped separately), butterfly wings (which she asked for specifically), and accessories to go with her new loft bed and desk!

Noelle got stitching supplies, yard from her siblings, and accessories to go with a new loft bed and desk!

Isaiah got an NBA game for his Switch, which he was super excited about, wood and carving tools, a space calendar from his siblings, controllers, and a paper airplane book.

Luke got a splitting ax, some gourmet oils and vinegar, and a few shirts.

I was thankful for new jammies, tea, a beautiful bible, and some ramakins.

A word on the loft bed/desks. THIS was my most anticipated moment - the moment the girls learned they were getting this!!  Noelle has been asking for a desk for years. Each birthday/holiday, she requests one. This year, it was time to make it happen. There was really not room to add a desk to their room as it was. One thing led to another and we ended up deciding on these beds from Ikea. We ordered them online and I spent a day driving out to Dallas to pick them up, along with some bedding, carpets, and chairs. They were THRILLED and that made us so happy :) After we opened presents, Noelle and I went in to her room to get the space ready. I had already had them clean out from under their beds in preparation, thankfully. She and I got the beds out, cleared surfaces, emptied drawers, and cleaned the floor in about 45 minutes. We were both so excited! Isaiah got to play his new game with Dad while we worked. Once the room was ready, the building began. Noelle and Luke worked for the rest of the day on the furniture. Lucy and I built the chairs! By the end of "Christmas," Noelle was sleeping up in her bed, and Lucy was on the floor on a mattress with a partially built bed and promises that it would be done in the morning. She was a little sad, but so sweet and patient. By the end of the next day, all was built and drawers were installed, and they were settling in. Yay!!!

Our "Christmas" weekend also included ringing the Salvation Army bell and Noelle performing in the evening Christmas program at church. We were so thankful for a healthy, happy, sweet home Christmas -
