Piano Party

Isaiah and Noelle participated in their first "Piano Party" after a year of lessons with Mrs. Horner.  Each week, they have trekked alone next door for their lesson.  They love the independence and always look forward to what Mrs. Horner will have ready for them.  For the recital, Isaiah played Star Wars songs and part of The Entertainer.  Noelle played Amazing Grace.  They both did a great job and felt very at ease with Mrs. Horner guiding them through their first performances!

Mrs. Horner is truly an angel.  Watching the way she deals with children (including mine) brings tears to my eyes nearly every time I watch her.  Her first student in the recital was mentally handicapped.  Watching her work with her with such respect had many of us in tears!  I have realized that she is very much like Mr. Rogers in her gentleness, patience, encouragement, and attentiveness.  She truly values and honors each child she is with and it is an amazing gift!  I'm always inspired to be more present, gentle, and joyful with my kids after watching her.  She never hurries or pushes and all of her words are kind.  She is a GIFT to us and I honestly wouldn't even care if she didn't teach the kids any music at all.  I'd pay her just to love on my kids for an hour a week!!
