Girls' Trip!!!

I've been a huge fan of Sally Clarkson for years.  I devour her books, podcasts, and website postings.  When I found out she was doing her last MomHeart Conference in Dallas, I really wanted to go.  I asked Kim, who in turn asked Becca and we made it a date, meeting up from Longview, Lubbock, and Denver!  It could not have been a more encouraging, sweet, sincere few days with these precious friends.  Becca's friend housed us in her beautiful home and treated us to pedicures at the Four Seasons.  When we weren't soaking up great wisdom and encouragement from Sally, we were soaking it up from each other over cups of coffee and croissants from La Madeline.  Really, my perfect kind of girls weekend!  It was a delight!!  SO thankful.

I'm actually writing this months later, and I think what stuck with me from the conference itself is the importance of claiming, and loving your own unique puzzle.  Sally talks a lot about this, and I was struck at the conference by the fact that I'm not Sally and even if I did everything she did, I will never be Sally!  My job is to see my life puzzle - my family with their unique personalities, my circumstances, my personality and gifts, my passions and interests, and build up my home in Christ.  I don't have anyone else's puzzle.  God has given me my portion and I will serve Him with it.

And I was reminded that part of my puzzle is a lot of amazing women in my life.  These two have taught me almost as much as Sally.  I'd totally read their blogs or listen to their podcasts if they had them -

I may have gotten choked up meeting Sally.  It was pretty funny - she was like the "Disney Princess" for all of these Christian mommas doing the best they can in their homes.  There were lines of people waiting to get a pic with her.  I was on a step in this pic, I think.  She is a lot taller than me!
