Tallon Academy 2014-2015

Oh the joy of starting a new year with these precious kiddos!  My heart skips a beat (and trembles a little) at the thought of all we will do and learn together this year.  We have piles of curriculum ready, our Classical Conversations group is set, the pencils are sharp, and the kiddos are mostly ready and willing.  It was so good to get the first day under our belts.  After months of planning, prepping, reading super-homeschool-mom blogs, researching curriculum, organizing our school room, and praying, it's so good to remember that this is not rocket science (though we may raise rocket scientists!).  This is sweet, slow, intentional teaching of 3 precious little souls.  Today we brainstormed about why we learn/work/study.  Noelle practiced writing her s's and her a's.  She persevered through a book she read to me and Isaiah.  We giggled as we read Uncle Wiggly around the lunch table.  We set up our August calendar.  Lucy colored a picture of what she wants to be when she grows up - a teacher - which happened to be first on my list of ideas.  Noelle wanted to be a vet and Isaiah has a career as an astronaut in mind.  The kids proudly put their first page into their school binders.  Isaiah did a math lesson and was happily relieved that it was easier than he expected.  And he worked on the spelling of "really" and we reviewed spelling rules from last year.  He did his first page of cursive work, learning that writing beautifully takes time, but the result is worth it.  Lucy erased our work off the white board.  We learned the first few motions of our timeline song.  And I had three little bodies laying on me as we asked the Lord to help us through this year of learning together.  Lots of simple moments strung together - countless opportunities for me to choose patience or impatience, gentleness or harshness, creativity and joy or boredom and apathy.  May this be a year of growth for all of us.  May our minds expand with knowledge that will humble us and give us greater awe for our Creator and love for His world.  May we love Jesus and develop servant hearts.
And may we have a lot of fun and joy in the process!  Here we go!

Very inspiring and exciting! Those 3 little eager souls sure are blessed by their mama's passion, intentionality, and skills. Indeed, a great year is ahead!
