What a treat to celebrate Isaiah's birthday this past week. We all adore him!!
We decided to do a Lego/water backyard party. Isaiah's requests were "organized games", a pinata, and fun time with friends.
Roxanne and the girls helped Luke get the water balloons ready.
"Hold up 8 fingers!"
These girls sure love their big brother. He really is an incredible big brother to these sweet sisters. I kind of think the pre-party and post-party were the most fun times for the girls because they didn't have to share him as much -
Phase 1 of the party was a Lego tower building relay -
The next game involved carrying Legos in a spoon -
We also did a Lego sorting game. After the 3 games were complete, the winning team got to have the first snow cones, followed by the other 2 teams.
Group pic before water play! Here we have William, Cooper, Christopher, Grayson, Josiah, Mabry, Isaiah, Pete, Aubrey, Kason, and the Tallon girls
This was the hit of the party. Water balloon pinatas! We hung up regular balloons filled w/ water and gave 2 kids a chance to see which one could break their balloon first. It was so much fun!
We attempted some water balloon games, but by this point, everyone was dying to just throw them, so we let the kids have at it -
We had pizza and apples for lunch and then brought out the cake. Isaiah chose chocolate with chocolate buttercream icing. Good choice.
We had just enough time to open gifts in the last few minutes before parents arrived.
Josiah stayed with us for the afternoon. He and Isaiah enjoyed playing w/ his new gifts and watching the Lego movie, which was an early gift from Noelle and Lucy. In the evening, we gave him the rest of his gifts.
Luke gave him his own pocket knife!
Great gift from the great-grandparents!!
Lego Movie Legos from the fam -
And a 5000 Facts book. "Mom! I already have a 1,000 Facts Book! Now I can know 6,000 facts!"
He also got the computer game, Kerbal Space Program. And, by request, Isaiah got his chicken casserole. He was a little disappointed by the celery in it (sorry, Buddy). This was the first baked meal in our new kitchen - woohoo!
We really are enamored by this awesome kid. A few days prior, I had watched him play at a church pool party where he had a blast with a crew of 7 and 8 year old boys. The next day, he had just as much fun on a pool play date where he was with 6 toddlers and pre-schoolers. We definitely see him developing into a person who loves people and who can find what is good/fun/interesting in whoever he encounters. He almost always has a good attitude, he's interested in everything (!), he has such a desire to do what is right, he's quick to obey, delighted by Lucy, likes to be a leader, laughs easily (and has a great sense of humor), will read for hour upon hour, and he loves to snuggle with his momma. We love him SO much, and we love that we like him so much, too!! He is a gift to this world and we are so thankful we get to have him in our family and under our roof for at least 10 more years!!
