The kitchen remodel started mid-May. Luke and Ben Caldwell hit the ground running, spending 2 solid weeks demolishing both kitchens. Since then, progress has slowed down for both families as Luke and Ben have had to get back to LeTourneau responsibilities, too. Yet, things are progressing slow and steady. Luke's been working long hours, spending a good bit of the day in the kitchen and at his desk each day, while still finding time to play with the kiddos, do VBS, spend time with me, pay some bills, and watch the World Cup. He's awesome.
This is from about a week ago. We're a little farther now.
And this is a glimpse of how busy our den feels these days - kitchen table, microwave, and food stuff and dishes stuffed everywhere.
On Father's Day, the kids and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond so they could choose gifts for him. Isaiah chose salt and pepper grinders, Noelle chose some stylus pens, and Lucy chose a box of sour patch kids. When he was opening Lucy's gift, she kept repeating, "Dad, you can share these. You can share these with us!"
Then Luke's birthday was right around the corner. I didn't like not being able to bake him a cake or make a special meal... I did like having my parents here! It was fun to have more people join the celebration. We went to Dudley's for cajun food for lunch (between swimming lessons and VBS). I bought a cake at the Butcher Shop for our little post-VBS celebration.
The kids and I gave him an ice cream maker! We're excited to try it out! He also got a Home Depot gift card, since he'd already bought the coffee grinder my parents intended to get him. We definitely need Home Depot these days...
