the caterpillar party

Lucy's caterpillar birthday party has been a much anticipated event in our house!  The big kids helped me decide on the theme and look through Pinterest to find some ideas.  They helped me shop, helped with the decorations and dinner, and made the little m&m caterpillars on the cupcakes.

The birthday girl has been talking about her "caterpillar party" for about a month.  The things she was most excited about were that Mimi and Pa would be here, she'd have presents, she'd be 2, and she'd get to blow out the candles all by herself.  All of her dreams came true yesterday!

We set up the party while she napped.  Once she got up, she got to see the decorations and then open presents.  She was thrilled by the pile of packages that were all for her!  From us, she got a little cupcake kitchen -

The Huffmans gave her a cute fairy dress up outfit -

She got her 2 year old Lucy book from grandma.  Isaiah read it to her when she opened it -

A backpack from the Burchams (which she did not want to take off) and a caterpillar from mom and dad -

She got Very Hungry Caterpillar dishes from Isaiah, clothes and a water table, and a cardinal purse from Mimi & Pa, and bubbles and chalk from Noelle.  We went right outside for bubble time, and she blew continually for about 20 minutes.  She was having so much fun getting the hang of it, so we didn't take it away.  We just took pics w/ her as she was busy bubble blowing -

Such a beautiful big girl!!

Dinner time!  We had grape-a-pillars, a cucumber caterpillar, and pasta w/ spinach and tomatoes.  It was a very cute meal, and Lucy was happy.

Lucy will answer that she's 2, but she can't quite get those little fingers up yet -

Our sweet baby won't really be 2 for a few more days, but for all she knows, she's hit the big TWO.  What a delight and joy she is in our family and what a blessing to be able to celebrate her!!!

Either time is moving faster than I thought or you have been on a "blogging rampage". What a cute party idea!
