Mimi & Pa came out for a long weekend and we had a great time. We packed in a few fun events. On Friday, we went to the Los Angeles Science Center to see the Endeavor space shuttle. Before the museum opened, we were able to wander around an amazing garden. I was kicking myself (and still am) for not bringing my good camera. All of our shots are phone pics. Oh well.
Happy grandkids and happy grandparents!
Isaiah was really pumped about seeing the shuttle. Mimi even brought him a space shuttle shirt! It was really amazing to see this shuttle that made 25 trips into space and has finally landed in L.A. It was hard to get a good picture of it. It's really big! But, here is a very happy 6 year old in front of it.
The next day was race day! We ran/walked in a race called Hope4Kids that our friend, Tami, organized. It was to raise money for foster youth in Ventura County. Luke, Dad, and I ran the 5K and the whole group ran/walked the 1 mile fun run.
Here's me and Dad crossing the finish line! We did it in 34 minutes. Not bad for a little walk break in the middle. It was fun to run together!
Luke blazed ahead of us and finished in around 30 minutes, which was very good considering he hasn't been training quite as much as he wanted to. Nothing like running a race the day before you turn 35 to make you push hard!
The kids were SO pumped for their run. Evelyn, Bailey, Noelle, and Isaiah before the race -
These 2 sprinted the whole way and finished in 10 minutes! They were number 12 and 13 in the whole fun run crowd!
Noelle ran almost the whole way, too! Here she is coming around the final bend w/ Luke -
Proud!
Mom, Dad, and I walked w/ friends and w/ Lucy in the stroller and met up w/ the fast kiddos at the end. After the race, there were bounce houses, glitter tatoos, and food-truck lunch. Great day.
It was a blast to have Mimi and Pa here! A few days before they came, Noelle said, "Mom, Grandparents are SO fun. Do you know why they are so fun? Because they do things with you!" We're so, so thankful to have 4 grandparents who are so invested in these 3. We may never live down the street from grandparents, but these kiddos feel very close to all 4 thanks to skype, cards in the mail, little gifts, and visits like these. Here they are working on "Hulk!"
