Harrison's Cave ... and a snail

We (Isaiah, especially) have been looking forward to going to one of the island's attractions for months. Harrison's Cave was under construction for the first few months that we were here and has recently re-opened. So, when we came upon a rainy day, it was the perfect indoor activity for all of us. Isaiah was thrilled to be finally going to the cave. Can you see the excitement on that little face?! The facilities were really, really nice, both in and outside of the cave itself. We all really enjoyed it - it felt like vacation for us "locals" as much as for our guests!

We spend a little bit of time wandering around outside after the cave tour, and Luke spotted this big snail. I don't know if it is the much-anticipated "Giant African Snail," but it was big and Isaiah enjoyed holding it after his dad plucked it off this giant leaf. It isn't the biggest snail we've seen (we saw a much larger one a week ago), but it was fun nonetheless. In fact, since Grandma and Granddad have been here, Isaiah's been oozing boy-ness as he's eagerly held snails, slugs, crabs, fish, and any little bug he could find. Noelle tries to follow suit, though we're a little more cautious with her. So far, however, she's certainly not bothered by digging in mud, stomping on bugs, or even touching the squishy mess of the stomped-on-bug. Good, clean (?) fun!

You can tell Isaiah that we have lots of snails in our backyard, too. So if you ever get a chance to visit us (and it's the right time of year) we can show him a little bit of his "home." It is fun to see the excitement in his face! -a

Wow- Alex got to your blog before \i did! (My computer is on the fritz). Agreed about the snails. In fact, the Germans think they're pests, so I could find him a job in someone's garden "harvesting" snails! So glad you guys had a good time. I hope that Noelle can lead Noah to bug-enjoyment someday as Isaiah has led her. Love, Aunt Cass
