Home Sweet Home - Part 1

Here are a few pics from our place. I was intending to wait until all of the boxes were unpacked, all of the walls were cutely decorated, all of the dishes were done, and all of the toys were put away. But, since that will probably not ever happen, here you go -

I l-o-v-e to get peeks into other people's houses, so if you're like me, enjoy! Here's the outside. We haven't taken full advantage of the front porch, but it is a great place to sit and watch the sheep. The garage is used as my indoor laundry hanging room. It is actually one of my favorite places in the house for some reason. I'm not sure why. I'll have to write a post about that someday.
Here is our tv room. This house is significantly bigger than any place we've lived in our married life. We're astounded to have a room without any toys in it, but here it is! This is also our only room with a/c. I love this room. And, I have to say that when Luke completes this desk, it will be worth celebrating. In an effort to get it to the house as soon as possible a few weeks ago, he opted for the 'build it yourself' option, which he has regretted for every second of the 10 hours he's spent working on it so far.
It is not uncommon for the windows and doors here to have bars on them. In a culture where doors and windows are often open to get the breeze, it makes sense. We're getting used to them and only occasionally feel like we're in prison. Isaiah loves having climbing bars on the doors (they are VERY sturdy) and it won't be long before Noelle will get the hang of it. We have an odd little room next to the kitchen that we didn't know what to do with. My brilliant husband suggested we make it into a play/school room and I love it. It is really great to have it right next to the kitchen, too. We got Isaiah a big world map for x-mas that I'm looking forward to putting on the wall. The cement walls have posed some problems in our wall hanging efforts...

Here is our dining room. It's functional.
Here's the kitchen. Not too many complaints, although the design is a little bit odd. Today I discovered the cabinets are at just the right spot for banging your forehead into them when kneading dough. The kitchen is small-ish, but is suiting us fine. The view from the window is nice. I can look out on the college while I'm washing dishes. The oven is big and old and I haven't figured out how to deal with the temperature. And the cabinets are kind of a dirty peach color. They will soon be white, though.

The laundry room is off the kitchen. After having a washer and drier in the kitchen, I'm loving having it out of my way when I'm in the kitchen.
