another first

It's not all sunshine, kisses, and rainbows. This morning, Isaiah encountered another first on our walk. The two of us had gone quite a ways without a single protest or fuss to be carried. It was great! I told myself that I would happily pick him up when he asked because he'd gone such a long distance already. When that moment did come, he stank. I couldn't figure out how he'd managed to fill his diaper while walking at such a pace. Then, I looked at his shoe. Yep. The first time to walk through dog poo. Of course by this time, he was tired of walking an not wanting to follow my directions to scrape his feet on the grass. I would have normally popped him up on my shoulders and headed home. But this time, I didn't want to risk it. So, I carried him awkwardly 15 minutes home. My biceps are still burning. I did manage to avoid getting poo on my coat. Isaiah's shoes, pants, mittens, and my jeans all got it, however. Lovely. The soiled items are in the wash. Our hands are clean. And Isaiah's sitting in his high chair without pants, eating lunch. I'm not quite ready to eat yet.

Lovely.

Was there no possibility to take his shoes off and scrape them there at the site of offense, or was it already to late?

Good times to be had by all.
