the sweetest moment of my day
Today Isaiah saw a rainbow for the first time. In the last 2 days, he has become very aware of the 2 cartoon rainbows in his room (decorated in Noah's ark theme). He's been pointing them out an saying "baw" which sounds like quite a few other words, but I know what he's saying and he knows what he's saying. So today as we were walking down one of the little streets in St Andrews, I looked up to see a large, faint rainbow. I squatted down next to the stroller to point it out to Isaiah. "Do you see the rainbow?" He was looking, but I could tell he didn't really understand that the little cartoon image he'd recently grasped from his nursery wall could be translated into the big, misty sky. We walked a few feet further, and as the rainbow grew brighter, I knelt down again. "Isaiah, do you see the rainbow?" He scanned the sky and I knew the exact moment he'd spotted it. I big, knowing grin crossed his sweet little face and he nodded. "Yeah, yeah, yeah!" There is something about seeing a rainbow that always makes me smile - a short-lived spurt of beauty and a reminder of God's presence and care. The rainbow over St Andrews this afternoon was not the brightest or biggest or most impressive that I've seen. But, it was Isaiah's first. And I got to watch him enjoy it, which makes it the best rainbow I've seen.

How amazing! Thanks for sharing that sweet moment. (And the not so sweet one after it - that was hilarious!)
