September Fun weekend!

On Friday morning, all three kids were a little giddy for the fun things in store for them over the weekend. This was a weekend we had looked forward to for weeks, and we were thankful the weather was sunny and everyone was healthy!

Lucy was invited to the Caldwells for an afternoon play time with the girls from her class. Truly, and afternoon with Lucy C., Mylie, and Ellie, making shrinky dinks and eating snacks is about the best thing that could happen. She trotted on over her in her new overalls and loved every second. Because we were the only ones home that night, we had planned on "Lucy night" for the two of us. She requested chicken alfredo, which I made happen, then we listened to and sang along to Disney music while co-coloring a picture. We read stories together then got her cozied up in my bed with at least 4 stuffed animals. It is a treat to sleep in bed with mom, and I loved having her sweet tiny body in that big bed with me.

Noelle's happy event was a slumber party for Elia's 10th birthday. Knowing the party would include bringing and playing with American Girl dolls, Noelle had a little suitcase packed for Kit and Samantha several weeks ago. They had matching jammies, sleeping bags (one borrowed from Lucy), and a gift for Elia's American Girl doll, Maryellen. At one point, Noelle commented that she hoped Elia was as excited as she was. The party did not disappoint - doll time, friend time, silly stories and sharing funny dreams, tie-dying pillowcases, and sleeping on the floor with a handful of sweet friends!

The next morning the three of us headed to Old Navy, intent to finally find some jeans for me and (especially) Noelle. Her little body is hard to fit! We confirmed that there is one size/style of jeans in all of Longview that fits her - ballerina jeans at Old Navy. I had her get 3 pairs out of relief! I also found that I love the Rockstar jeggigins, and they were half price, so I got several pairs, too! Sweet Lucy doesn't love jeans and is totally satisfied with the few hand-me-downs she has. She just patiently bopped around in front of the mirrors while we tried on clothes.

The biggest event of the weekend, however, was Isaiah's 13-year-old trip to Galvaston with Luke for his birthday fishing trip! They loaded up on a chartered boat for 100 passengers at 7am on Saturday for a 12 hour trip. The sea was pretty choppy, so the 4 HOUR trip out into the gulf was a little rough for Isaiah. Once they "landed" to fish, he felt a little better and was able to enjoy fishing. They caught several types of snapper and enjoyed this new experience on the deep sea. They were relieved to be back on solid ground at the end of the day, however. They had their fish cleaned and enjoyed a late dinner before returning to their tiny airbnb for the night. On Sunday, they pier fished for several hours, where Isaiah caught about 35 fish! This trip confirmed that squid is great bait - it stays put and it can last through several catches. They got home Sunday evening, sunburned with a bag of fresh fish ready to cook on Monday. Isaiah's 13th bday celebrations have finally come to a close. What a treat to celebrate him!
