June!
Whew! I can hardly believe all that we packed into June.
Week 1:
Isaiah went to Dallas for a 4 day Mission Trip with the 5/6th Grade group. They served the Storyline Church and community by leading a VBS, and they got to witness some of the challenges of living as a refugee in Dallas. There was plenty of fun activities along the way, including his first trip to Splash Kingdom and a Rangers game.
Luke was in full Passage-prep mode.
The girls and I swam, played, went to the longest staff meeting ever, and I worked on my counseling class.
Week 2:
Passage! Whew! It is an incredibly full and long week, actually starting before camp with counselor training and meals. During the week, Luke was gone from 7am - 11pm each day, coming home to prep his morning talks for the next day. He did an awesome job and was especially praised for his "Word of the Day" lessons he presented. One was so inspiring that a counselor got a tattoo of a koinonia after Passage! Luke and I co-taught classes each day, I taught 2 of the 5 days, and he took the other 3. The kids joined in for several meals, games on campus, worship sessions, and the crawfish boil. We also took care of Hazel all day and over night on one of the days. And I had reading and school to keep up with. Oh, and the girls started swim lessons and I did a counseling session role-play. And, Isaiah did baseball camp at LeTu as well.
Week 3:
We started the week with Father's Day. Luke just wanted to snuggle with the fam and watch a movie, so we made that happen. Passsage recovery, dentist appointments, check-ups, orthodonist appointment, swim lessons, swimming with CC friends, and Luke left for Duke at the end of the week. Add in school and prep for VBS.
Week 4: VBS! I planned the scripts and Andrea/Pete/Isaiah/Cole helped pull the sets together for each session. We had Colby, Bryan and Luke in different roles through the week. Luke jumped into his role on Tuesday night a few hours after returning from his trip! It was really fun to have Isaiah involved in creating and leading the skits. He is so much fun to work with and did so well. He got to celebrate the end of a job well done on Wednesday night with a sleepover slumber party for Jack's 13th bday! The girls both loved having the Caldwells at VBS again. The tradition continues, this time with Charlotte, too. VBS songs in the car, arriving early, loving being together every evening!
In addition, we had more camps this week! Noelle did a jewelry camp, Lucy did "artsy animals" and Isaiah did the 12-18 year old basketball camp. Add in another week of school and one more role-play counseling session. Oh, and we had our final staff meeting for church, with a sweet time of blessing and prayer for us as we leave our position. We celebrated Luke's 41st bday at the end of the week with steak and gf cake. WHEW!
We were so thankful that we were all healthy and well to participate in ALL of these good things, and it came as a huge relief to have NOTHING on the calendar for the first two weeks of July. There is plenty to do for CC, LeTu, house, etc., but we have lots of open space and flexibility, which is lovely.
