We had a lovely few days with Mimi, Pa, Shannon, David, Aubryn, Annelise and Brookie! It was such a treat to have them come down to our little world for a few days. We filled our time eating good food - cajun, bbq, and all of the Thanksgiving delights. We enjoyed time at the park, in the yard, and hanging out around the house. Isaiah enjoyed having some additional competitors in fuse ball and basketball, and Violet loved all of the extra pets and extra nibbles of food!
We started a new tradition, which was so much fun. Talent Show night! Everyone performed at least one event. We had cheering, drawing, singing, tin whistle playing, magic tricks, recitation, juggling, science, sign language, and a guitar solo. Quite a talented bunch, I'd say! So much fun! We opened with a poem -
Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all through the
town
Not a creature was stirring – not even a greyhound.
The turkeys were brined by Luke with great care
In hopes that enticing aromas would soon fill the air.
And Mimi in her travel pants, and Pa in his plaid
Had just arrived from Denver, and boy were they glad!
The Burcham girls eyed the pies, couldn’t wait for a piece
Sweet Aubryn, cool Brookie, and dear Annelise
Up early the next morning, Lucy settled for the parade
For that was her favorite part of Thanksgiving day!
Toward the TV, Isaiah flew like a flash
In hopes of seeing the great Ezekiel Elliot dash
Shannon had recipes ready to rock
She filled every pan, each bowl, and all pots
When what to our wondering eyes did appear?
But dear Uncle David and a case of craft beer!
There was a hostess named Holly, running to and fro
So happy to have her family there from Colorado
Noelle was the girl who lead cousin crafts
Decorations, name cards, and maybe pilgrim hats
What a delightful week we had in great weather
All stuck together like birds of a feather
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
We are full of thanks to God for His many abundant blessings to us!!
