We just wrapped up the long, intense, fun season of baseball last week with a (Consolation) Championship win! Isaiah played on the 9-10 year old Braves team with a few new coaches and a lot of new kids. It was definitely overwhelming to start the season in March with coaches who's style was heavy on yelling and critique, light on encouragement and happiness. Those first few practices were rough, and it's hard to go from no baseball to practice or games 3-4 nights/week. But, once the season got rolling and Isaiah found his spot as catcher, it was a really fun season for all of us. We were so glad that Isaiah got to try his hand at catcher. It really was the perfect position for him this year. He pays attention, understands the game, learned to throw off his mask, is great at being "a wall", loves staring down runners at 3rd, and especially loves diving headfirst to home base to tag out a runner! In the very last game, he caught his first pop fly as catcher, too. He was awesome!! He had a few great hits and lots of runs throughout the season as well. The girls deserved a baseball sister trophy, too, after all of the many games and practices they were part of. This year was a lot easier on me, though, because they could kind of pay attention to the game and they are just more mature and able to handle late nights out. They also mastered sunflower seed eating this year, which definitely helped to pass the time. The Coppingers, Gooches, Kitchens, Longs, and Caldwells all came to a few games to cheer Isaiah on. It's pretty cool to have fans!
