We had a perfect Thanksgiving celebration this year! Luke had been in San Antonio for SBL (perfect location for SBL) and we decided to meet my parents there on Monday for a little vacation together. I was super proud of myself for coming off 3 days of solo parenting then packing suitcases, getting the house in order, loading up the dog, and driving the 8 hours by myself. Pretty much felt like I could conquer anything after that!
We stayed in a nice 5 bedroom house. The kids were pumped to each have their own room with their own TV! Here's Isaiah tucked in with a Clone Wars show.
Dad and I went to pick up Luke form his hotel on Monday night and we were all settled in together. Tuesday, we remembered the Alamo, walked a lot, ate some awesome Mexican food, and played at a park. The weather was perfect -
We were all eager to introduce Violet to Mimi & Pa and curious to see how the dogs would get along. After some initial growls of authority, by Violet, they settled into a good rhythm together. Lucy was in heaven being able to pet BOTH of her favorite dogs simultaneously. She'd looked forward to this moment for a long time.
Mimi & Pa brought us all treasures from Ireland!
We did SeaWorld on Wednesday! We were surprised to find that it was really quiet in the morning. We were so excited to see the new dolphin exhibit. We could have stayed there all day, watching the dolphins play so close to where we were standing -
Shamu-shaped ice cream bars for the kids, coffee for the adults. Thanks, Pa!
All of the shows were fun once again. They all had a Christmas twist to them, so they felt a little new. We also added in the pet show, which we'd missed during the previous trip.
But, really - the best part was the beautiful lights! Pictures don't do it justice, but all of Sea World lit up with over 5 million lights. We learned it was the biggest display in all of TX. Pretty impressive! It was pretty magical to cruise through the park one more time. We forgot about our achy feet and soaked up the beauty. By the time we left, we were super tired and hungry. We ended up at Cracker Barrel, which was a great choice. Everyone left with full tummies, happy hearts, and sleepy eyes.
On Thanksgiving morning, 4 of us were up and ready for a Turkey Trot! Luke and Isaiah blazed ahead, Dad slowed down for me, and we all finished happy. What a fun way to start Thanksgiving!
After an afternoon of relaxing, munching on hot appetizers, and watching football, we headed to the Riverwalk for a boat ride and a lovely dinner right along the water. Mimi made reservations months ahead of time for a special Thanksgiving together.
Truly a happy, sweet, delightful Thanksgiving holiday. We were all so thankful!
