Leading up to Easter

March very much had a feel to it this year.  We were at the end of our first year in CC, so there was a lot of talk about Memory Masters as well as a lot of practicing our memory work.  U.S. Geography... anatomy... U.S. History sentences... John 1:1-7 in Latin and English... It was a normal part of our interaction to spout out memory work to each other.  Our favorite was hearing Lucy conjugate verbs.  She really did memorize a lot of the CC work.  She can conjugate to be, to do, to beat, to sit...  But the funny thing was when she would conjugate nouns like "to cup", "to car", "to chair".  She had us rolling as she fit the words into the same rhythm/pattern as verbs.  Smart little cookie!

This year we also moved through Easter activities throughout the month, using a little e-book I found called Sense of the Resurrection.  We had sensory activities that helped us learn and remember the Easter story.   My favorite activity was when we used our sense of touch to learn about Jesus washing his disciples' feet.  It is one of the most beautiful stories in scripture, and walking through it with the kids was very special.  The kids did some quick washing, but loved it so much that they continued to take turns washing each others' feet after Luke headed to work.

We did our egg dying at the beginning of Easter week.  Lucy was a dying animal.  She dyed as quickly as she could and we had to slow her down or she'd have dyed all 3 dozen!

She didn't remember doing this as a 2 year old, so it was a whole new experience for her again.  She was a fan!

It was not Luke's best year for creative dying.  This was his best this year... ha!

We tried a new technique, adding a few drops of oil to the dye.  It made some pretty swirls that I had fun with.

Isaiah couldn't pick his one favorite egg, so he asked for a group shot and then shots with each egg individually.

We finally slowed Lucy down a bit by giving her stickers -

Noelle with all of her favorites!
