In July, Isaiah got to go to Camp Deer Run. He got to have 4 full days of day-camp and he loved every minute of it! Here he is w/ some of his church buddies - Kason, Cooper, and Grayson -
It was a big deal to go on a 45 minute bus ride to and from camp every day! These little guys were so cute on the bus. They are all so much shorter than the seats, that the bus looks empty until you stand up and look over the edge of the seats. Here they are on day 1 - ready for fun!!
Isaiah said that he most enjoyed swimming. He also really liked the super-cool college-aged crew leaders who hung out and led these kiddos. When he got back from camp, he taught us kumbayah and the "Potato Chip Potato Chip" song.
Ah, the kitchen! Had I been more organized, I might have put together a snazy post just about the stages of kitchen remodel. Here was the kitchen in July. Jack came down with the very sweet offer to help w/ the kitchen in the mornings, play with the kids in the afternoons, and take us to dinner each night. Every part of that offer was such a great help to us! Luke and Jack were able to build all of the cabinets while he was here. It is definitely not a 1 man job (or a 1 man and his wife job). We were grateful!
We got to have our first TX 4th of July! The most exciting part was the big bag of firecrackers that we got to set off on the driveway! Isaiah was super excited to see what his little tank would do -
Fun to have Granddad here for the festivities!!
We set off some colored smoke bombs in the chiminea. "Mom, take a picture of me walking through the green smoke looking like a zombie."
So after the firecracker fun, we headed out to find the Longview firework show. We'd heard there were places all over Longview to park to see the show, but that the Kroger parking lot was a good spot. So, we landed there! The kids were pretty stoked to sit on TOP of the van and drink their bottled root beer.
Although the firework show was actually pretty impressive, I think we'll look for another spot next year. Although a grocery store parking lot is probably about as American as you can get, the parking lot lights, packed cars, and regular shoppers coming and going didn't do much for the ambiance.
Soon after Camp Deer Run and 4th of July, we packed up and headed north. We were so excited to meet up w/ the Clarkes on the way to CO. We met at a hotel in Witchita for an evening of catching up, eating, and hanging out. We ended our time the next morning w/ hotel breakfast and Bajan worship in the hotel room. It was such a sweet time of fellowship with this precious family! It was pretty wild to remember how strong the Bajan accent is and especially crazy to hear the kiddos with such a thick accent. We could hardly understand Miss Makenna with all of her spunky Bajan sass!
Onward to Colorado!
Recently, Lucy has become quite attached to my first stuffed animal, Pat. She calls it "Miss Pat" and hasn't noticed the petrified gum stuck to her face.
