These Days

- We finished up school a few weeks ago and have plunged into kitchen remodel mode.
- Not having a schedule PLUS the chaos of no kitchen is making me a little crazy, the former more than the latter, actually.
- Luke and his friend, Ben (LeTu prof who lives across the street) decided to do a bit of a kitchen remodel co-op and help each other w/ kitchen remodels.  Week one was spent demolishing the Tallon kitchen, week two on the Caldwells.  Now every man for himself for a while.
- We've been making coffee in the bathroom, eating our weights in bagels, drinking smoothies, and delighting in dinner invitations.
- Isaiah finished up his regular season of baseball.  Fri night was his first play-off game.  The Reds lost it, but, since they had been first in their league at the start of play-offs, they got trophies!!  It was so exciting for the boys to get their first trophies!!
- We are awaiting our mail-order caterpillars for another round of metamorphesis.  I feel like we grew butterflies just the other day, but it's been 2 years and the girls certainly don't remember.
- Summer is upon us, including the crazy mosquitoes.  Even my Avon Bug Guard is having a hard time warding them off.  We've resorted to dressing in long pants and shirts in the evenings.
- The front yard has a sink, a pile of wood, and a dishwasher sitting in it.
- We just got to go on a church date night last night where the kids get cared for and the adults get to go out.  We made the most of it w/ an appetizer date at a pretty neat sushi place and then a double date for dinner w/ the Kueckers.  Pretty great!
- Most of our kitchen decisions have been made - except for the big ones that will determine the whole look of the kitchen - blinds and counters
- I'm gearing up for a ladies book study of One Thousand Gifts during the summer.  I intended it to be a small gathering at Panera, but it has morphed into a group of about 25!  I'm excited to see what fruit God brings.
- Lucy is proving to be a super friendly kid.  Noelle says, "Mom, I think she's the best one in our family at being friendly."  Probably right.  People have commented a lot recently on how well she speaks, too.  She does speak very clearly and has a lot to say, too!
- Our friends, Doug and Karissa, had baby Ellie this week!  We got to deliver balloons and donuts and meet them along w/ Jaime and her kiddos.  It was so fun to meet that sweet baby at just a few hours old!!
- Isaiah's finished The Hobbit and is eating up the first Harry Potter book, which Luke is reading aloud.
- Noelle has been writing her name on everything she can get her hands on.  Usually a card or picture for someone else will involve her name front and center with some decor around it.
- Luke has done nothing academic for 2 full weeks, which is the longest I've ever seen him take a break.  It's looming, though, as he definitely has some deadlines coming up.  It's been great to work full time on the house for a while, have something very tangible to show for his work, and work physically all day.  Plus we love having him close.
