The last week or so

St. Patrick's day was another fun day to do school around a holiday theme.  The kids woke up to Lucky Charms and a little green decor.  After breakfast, we read the missionary story of St. Patrick, a few other St. Patrick books and watched the Veggie Tales version online.  We listened to a little celtic music before heading to the store for Monday groceries.  The kids had a great time spotting people wearing green at the store.  They made up a random code word to say whenever we saw someone wearing green, which lead to lots of giggles.   After groceries, we had to head to the Walmart Auto shop to get our dying battery checked and replaced.

Later in the day, we did a liquid density experiment which happened to produce this lovely rainbow!  It was fun to do and made a pretty centerpiece for a few days -

We made some cute little leprechaun faces!

For dinner, I made corned beef and cabbage while Isaiah (nearly single-handedly) made our Irish Soda bread.  The beef and cabbage were not very tasty, but the bread was good!  Never-the-less, the kids finished the meal saying, "I'm so glad we don't live in Ireland!"  The green ice cream for dessert made up for it a little bit.

On Friday, we met Luke at LeTourneau to tour the new (beautiful!) student center and have lunch.  Here's a bit of it.  It's a lovely building and the students are super excited to have it.

Yesterday was a big day for our little fam.  We dropped the kids off at the Kueckers at 6:30 am and headed to Tyler for our first 10k together.  We were both a little wary.  I'd been sick, Luke had allergies, and neither of us had trained much.  But, we took turns pushing each other to do it and we were glad we did.  The day was perfect - cloudy, 60-something degrees.  The race promised us "mile after mile of beautiful flowers" through the old neighborhoods of Tyler, but a freeze a few weeks ago knocked them out, apparently.  We saw one flowering bush.  But, luckily, we both like admiring beautiful old homes, so we were happy to explore the neighborhood with a few hundred friends.  We ended up jogging about 4.5-5 of the 6 miles, which I was very pleased with!  Our time wasn't very fast, but we were happy to have done it and know we were in shape enough to do at least this.  A run together is actually a pretty fun date and we're ready to find another one for the fall.

After the run, we picked up the kids, took them home, and snuggled on the couch watching Frozen while Lucy napped.  I hadn't seen it yet and loved snuggling w/ my family and watching this cute movie that I've heard SO much about.

After movie time, Isaiah and I got ready for our Duck Dynasty date night at church.  More to come on that later...
