Isaiah's real birthday came a little over a month ago. I've corrected him many times when people have asked him how old he is and he's said, "6!" But, he really did turn SEVEN! Since we kind of celebrated his birthday a few months early, I feel like I really had time to warm up to this one. I may have to do early birthday parties each year - it helps me transition. In the morning, Isaiah got a glimpse at his Lego cake before we had chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. This kid knows how to party - start and end the day with cake!
The day was kind of a busy one, with Luke having a full day of work, and the kids and I dealing w/ the van and car trouble. Isaiah had an awesome attitude and was thrilled with the celebrating we did. He got to open a few gifts in the morning. We knew he'd go straight to the Legos! He also opened a magic trick set from his sisters that he got busy with right away.
Later in the day, we had "chicken cracker stuff" for dinner and he opened the rest of his gifts. Here he is finding Battleship from Cass and Alex -
He also got a magazine subscription, an Erector set, and Mousetrap. The finale of the celebration was his first bike!!!
He was pretty excited, but a little wary of it, too. Once he mastered it (2 days later!) he said what made him nervous was the way Luke and I were making him tilt while he was riding - ha!
I could go on an on about how proud we are of this guy. He really is an amazing kid. In this last year, I've so appreciated his attitude. He is almost always positive, engaged, helpful, and excited about life. He's handled all of the transition of this past year like a champ. He's taken such good care of his sisters - especially Lucy. He's a delight to teach, so fun to play with, and he's always good company. He's forgiving, courageous, friendly, outgoing, faithful, smart, and funny! It's such a gift to see his gifts and talents unfolding and growing. He has a sweet, steady faith in the Lord and His word. These days, he is very interested in Legos (especially Ninjago, Star Wars, and Hero Factory). He is a reading machine! He just read the Wizard of Oz on his own a few days ago. He loves watching the Broncos, and he wants to be sure he knows what happens in each play. He's sensitive to other's feelings and wants people to be fair and included. He's becoming creative in art lately - putting together all sorts of things w/ paper, tape, glue, sticks, etc. He'd play computer games or watch Wild Kratts all day if we let him. He's stretching out so much that our recent trip to the pediatrician revealed he's in the 90th percentile for height an much lower for weight. They measured him twice since he's taken such a leap in the last year (from the 50th percentile)! He's got a sweet tooth like his momma and he's always hungry. He rarely complains and is still a little sponge (so when he does complain, I usually hear my own complaints coming out of his mouth!) He's super interested in maps, science, bugs, knights, swords and ninjas. And one of my favorite things about him these days is how easily he laughs - how quickly he cracks up - and what a great laugh and smile he has! He's especially tickled by Lucy these days - as we all are. But, sometimes the funniest part is watching Isaiah crack up at her!
We are so, so thankful to be Isaiah Tallon's parents and we're so excited to journey with him as he continues to grows up. Happy Birthday, dear Isaiah!!!

He is so sweet! It's fun to see who he is becoming. Glad you're able to enjoy him each day. Happy Birthday, Isaiah- the "biggest" kid Noah uses for all comparisons of "really big kids!" Cass, Alex, Noah and Elliot
