LEGOLAND

A few days ago, we read a surprise poem to Isaiah.  The last lines went like this:
"In August, you'll have cake and your gifts will be grand,
But, on Thursday, would you like to go to... Legoland?"

It's a little early to celebrate his 7th birthday, but the timing was right - Luke had the time off, the schools were still in session, and the temps weren't too high yet.  Plus, August is going to be a crazy busy month for us as we get settled in Longview, so we opted for an early celebration.

Isaiah's been very interested in going to Legoland for the last 2 years.  He hasn't pestered us, but he's occasionally mentioned that it sure would be fun to go to Legoland sometime.  We were SO glad to be able to take him, especially at this age.  It is unlike Disneyland in that is really is geared almost completely for 4-9 year olds.  The height restrictions limited Noelle a few times, but Isaiah was the right size for everything he wanted to go on.  He was one HAPPY almost-7 year old.

Legoland has rides and tons of Lego sculptures made from many 100's of 1000's of Legos.  This one was Luke's favorite.

Noelle was too small for this one, but it was just as fun to watch these 2 enjoy it :)

There was a splash pad and mini-water park there.  The kids could have stayed there for the entire time.  We at least spent an hour or so there.

The kids each go to go "driving school," and both were quite good!

There were only 2 rides that Lucy could go on - both boat trips.  Here we are on Story Book Brook, with fairy tale Lego figures along the sides.

Miniland boat ride.  Mt. Rushmore and New York - all made of Legos!

The mini version of the hotel we stayed in when we went to Las Vegas.  The kids recognized  it.

Mini New Orleans

Mini Los Angeles

This was much-anticipated:

Mini D.C.

Noelle's favorite ride.

Isaiah and Luke enjoyed it, too -

You can do a "mini-figure swap" where you can bring old mini-figures and trade them for others!  The kids were really excited about their swaps.  Isaiah got a mechanic w/ tatoos and a sky diver.  Noelle got a warrior girl w/ a sword and spear -

The girls' souveneir was a Little Mermaid duplo set.  Lucy was not interested in letting this box go once it was on her lap.

We stopped at In-n-Out on the way home for dinner and then hit the road for the 3 hour drive.  By the time we pulled into the driveway, Isaiah had passed out on his 2 Star Wars sets.  What a great day to celebrate this awesome almost 7 year old.

I love every bit of this!! As I'm learning as a parent, there are very few feelings more satisfying and fulfilling than being able to provide something to your children that brings them such joy! I got a little misty-eyed reading this...what a sweet, sweet almost-7-year-old you have!
