Last weekend, we went strawberry picking at Underwood Family Farms. What a lovely evening for:
- this big girl to pull the wagon all by herself -
- this adventurer to forge his way through the tall plants -
- these buddies to be neck-high in green growth -
- this momma to be so happy to be out w/ her family in such a lovely place -
- this girl to fill her own whole clear box with mostly ripe berries -
- this daddy to lead his big kids through the strawberry patch -
- showing off a perfect berry -
- working very seriously -
- delighting in a good find -
- posing for your momma -
- picking green berries -
- tasting a few right off the plant -
- being with daddy -
- serious picking and serious tasting -
- freedom to scoot in the dirt -
- and pour dirt on your shoulder -
- tasting a whole strawberry for the first time -
- sliding down the combine slide -
- greeting the emu -
- having 3 kids in baby swings -
- a goat on a bridge -
- eating chicken salad next to your sibling on a hay pyramid -
And the next morning was a great morning for Luke and I to run our first 5k - The Great Race of Agoura! We've been more or less training since the new year. I was so thankful that my foot/ankle was up to it, even though I'd missed out on about 3 weeks of training. I wasn't quite at the point I had hoped to be, but we did well! We ran almost the whole time - I slowed us down w/ about 1/4 mile total of little walk breaks, but it was the most I've ever run at once. The last 1/2 mile, Luke and I went into "labor mode" where I am focused and non-chatty and he sends me a steady stream of "you're doing great... almost there... you're awesome... so proud of you..." I know 3 miles isn't that long, but we were feeling pretty proud of ourselves for doing it - together - in 34 minutes. And Lucy had a great time along for the ride. It was her first 5k, too.
