This morning was family adventure day out! We went to the La Brea Tar Pits and museum. It is a pretty amazing site as there have been thousands of animal fossils retrieved here. We saw skeletons of saber-tooth cats (they aren't called tigers anymore), bison, giant camels, huge ground sloths (bigger than a bear), mammoths, and others. Luke and I were most amazed by how recently these giant pre-historic-seeming animals roamed the area. Some died here just 11,000 years ago!
The scene out front is a little much, I think, with a parent mammoth stuck in the tar while the other parent and baby panic on the bank. The kids weren't too traumatized, though -
This was the giant ground sloth -
Getting a feel for just how sticky the tar is -
And Miss Lucia didn't get much camera time today since she wasn't awake for most of our adventure. So, here's what our little cutie pie looked like today during tummy time -

Haha, that last pic reminds me too much of Michael during 'tummy time'!
Looks like a great day! The kids are really growing up so quickly! We miss you guys!
I can't believe you think that the Earth is older than 11,000 years. :) Lucy looks more and more like herself and less like either of her siblings. I always wanted to go inside because the bubbling tar outside the museum is really intriguing! Can't wait to hear about it from your kids! Cass
