You know you're back in Barbados (if you're us), when:
- Your daughter's first 3 syllable word comes out at the breakfast table and it is "mos-qui-to!"
- There is a spider the size of a small tarantula sitting on your laundry pile
- You take a ho-hum trip to one of the most lovely beaches on the planet
- You carry around 2 months worth of paychecks in your bag in case your bank's atm might possibly be working so you can deposit them
- You race out the back door with a few dollar coins when you hear the ice cream truck across campus
- Making frozen fruit smoothies is part of your daily routine
- Checking hurricane warnings is part of your daily routine
- You are aware and try to not be obsessive about the dengue outbreak
- You find that the unopened bag of rice as well as oats has 'hatched' and is full of tiny critters
- Your daughter is standing in her bed in the morning, pointing and laughing at a fairly large lizard on her wall
- You're pretty sure lizards outnumber people in your house by about 4:1
- You eat some delicious fish
- You pay $12 for generic rice crispies
- You smell of citronella and skin-so-soft
- The sweet potatoes are huge... and white
- Your son has heat rash in his armpits, and your daughter has learned the word "pit"
- You see palm trees swaying outside your windows
- You are a minority
- The ice in your drink is always gone before you finish your drink
- Your quickly-molding bread is much desired by the ducks and fish in the lilly pond, so you take many trips to feed the animals
- You take regular walks around the house to dump any bit of water where mosquitoes could lay eggs
- You wear as little clothing as possible while still passing for decent an modest
- You're always drawn to the "cool room" in the house where the a/c runs at full blast
- You sing a calipso praise song at church, which is really fun even though you can only recognize the word "Jesus"
- You try to keep your mind away from the frustrations/challenges of living here and be thankful for all of the Caribbean experiences you're having. You're able to do that successfully about half the time :)

I laughed out loud at Noelle laughing at the lizard climbing on the wall in her room. At least your kids won't be afraid of any critters as they get older!
Oh, Holly! Hang in there!
I love you and your sweet self. I'm so glad you guys had such a wonderful time in the States! Your family is a treasure that we miss and think/talk of often! Give your little niblets some squeezes from us!
love
Corrie
Some day you'll read this list and it'll all seem sooo long ago and far away... It's a good list to describe life there. :-)
