Sugar Cane

This island is full of sugar cane. A little bit of it grows in our neighbor's yard, and he brought us a few stalks the other night. He loves teaching us how to do things Bajan-style. He showed Luke how to tear into the cane and cut a chunk off. Then he popped a huge piece in his mouth and quickly gnawed the sweet juice out to teach Luke how to do it. Luke and the kids were out with the cane on the front porch while I made dinner tonight. It sure was quiet with all 3 of them seriously chewing on this tasty treat -
