Household happenings
We have a new pet. This is our beta, Coconut. I bought him on a whim when our original plan for the day (the beach) didn't work, due to rain. We ended up at the mall, and then the pet store, and before I knew it, Isaiah was riding home in his carseat with a fish in a bag on his lap. No one asked for this little creature, but it just seemed like our house needed a low-maintenance pet and that the kids would get a kick out of it. It wasn't until later that I realized our last fish, Fishy, came into our home in the same way - plans failed, wandering through pet shop, fish comes home. The kids love this little guy, and Isaiah takes his role of being Coconut's feeder very seriously. He feeds him 3-4 pellets (though he often calls them pedals) twice a day. Noelle wants to give him bread, like we do the fish in the pond out back, but so far we've kept Coconut safe from her little curious arms.
And here we have our first home-grown cucumber!! Luke and Isaiah have done a great job gardening since we moved here. It is truly incredible how quickly things grow here - perfect for a young gardener! They've spent many hours outside together, digging, planting and discussing the process of growing plants. And last night we harvested our first cucumber! Isaiah was so proud!! Soon to come are tomatoes, okra, corn, hot peppers, zucchini, various flowers, herbs, and even watermelons. I'm so proud of my littlest gardener and so thankful for my hubby-gardener and the long, quality time he spends with Isaiah.

Old AND quite handsome. The glow of sun on his skin adds to it! Cass
Well done, Isaiah! :-) I wish I could be there to see your garden. And I wish I could taste some of your garden veggies!
I hope the okra ripens while I am there. Should I bring some corn meal just in case? Love, Grandma
Nice work, Isaiah! You and Dad are very good gardeners!
Love, Mimi
