Today was a home day for us. I need one day a week with no play dates or outings planned. I let Isaiah stay in his jammies for a few extra hours and we play with every toy, do every activity, read every book in our flat. Today, I tried a new "activity cup" with Isaiah. I filled it with slips of paper with activities written on it. Some of them simple like "do some jumping" and some requiring more effort, like "do fingerpainting" or "find a good book and read it on the guest bed with Mommy". Isaiah LOVED the concept and was willing and excited to do anything that the note suggested (as opposed to me suggesting things he/we could do). I think the cup was like a 3rd party that Isaiah considered to be really fun. One of the activities was to play "store" with me. I put his sunglasses in the store, he bought them for 1 coin and wore them for the rest of the day - We spent a bit of time in the back yard. It was a really sunny day and not too windy. This was Noelle's first time to join us. I bundled her up in her little pink fluffy suit and popped her in the bouncy seat. She was as happy as could be.

Holly, you are such a wise and creative Mommy! You're doing a wonderful job!
Much love, Mom (Mimi)
He looks sweet! (not in the little boy sense, but in the rocker sense!) Yesterday I worked in the second hand shop at the CoC in Wiesbaden and there was a purple suit (vest included) with red and black pin strips just about Isaiah size... I could sell to him for a coin & then we could play "Gospel preacher dress-up." He wouldn't even have to take off the shades! I'd keep Noelle in that fuzzy, snuggly outfit forever!!!! She's cute! And, I'm so glad you're sharing what you're learning in all this parenting business so I can take notes as you go!
That is a great idea, Holly! I'll have to keep the cup of ideas in the back of my mind for when Isaac is a little older!
Those sunglasses are hilarious - what a good idea!
Isaiah is a character!
My mom had a similar cup, but she gradually started including things like 'clean the bathroom' along with the fun activities...
Wow incredible ingenuity at work there...way to be!
