Like the most of America, we made the transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas over the weekend. We celebrated Thanksgiving on Saturday evening with some friends from church. We didn't have the Macy's parade or any football to watch, but we had good fellowship and all of the traditional Thanksgiving goodies with only one brought-from-America ingredient, French's fried onions. And, I have to say, that I made the best pecan pie ever. It is a little drier than most pecan pies because it doesn't have any corn syrup. It will definitely be my go-to pecan pie for the future. If you're interested, you can find the recipe here.
This is our wall of thankful leaves, which we've been working on all month. Every night before dinner, we've each thought of 1 thing we're thankful for and put it on a leaf.
Almost every single night, Isaiah's first answer to "What are you thankful for?" was "sheeps and dogs!" We had to stretch him a little bit to think of other things, but he got the hang of it by the end of the month.
So, Saturday was our Thanksgiving, and Sunday began our Christmas celebrating! Here are Luke and his friend, Kelly, with their boys waiting for the Christmas lighting in town. The boys look a little shell-shocked. It was pretty cold and the streets were way more packed than usual. All of Fife seemed to be present for the big event!
After the Christmas lighting, we started listening to Christmas music and put up our brand new tree (we found our old one covered in mold...). This is Isaiah's 3rd Christmas, and decorating has been getting more and more fun each year. He loved getting the lights out, discovering the ornaments, decorating the tree, and encouraging me with things like, "Good job putting the lights on, mommy!" and "Oooh. This ornament is cute!"
