Thomas

Since our return to St Andrews, Isaiah has become very, very interested in Thomas the Tank Engine or "tom-AS da tain". He almost always has one of his 3 little trains in his hand, and Thomas is frequently the first thing he asks for when waking. Luke and I find the characters cute, but the stories strangely off-putting. The moral of the story is often something like: "If you are more useful than others, you will get credit and praise, thus shaming your counterparts" or, for example: "Don't be the lazy one who boasts about a special job assignment and then oversleeps and misses the opportunity to do the job. Be the one who covers for the lazy bum and then gets credit and earns the right to laugh at the one who bragged and missed his alarm." Anyway, Isaiah can certainly enjoy this little friend without the stories. Today before his nap, Isaiah gently laid Thomas down on his side and said, "Tom-as nap" before scurrying off to his room for his own rest. Thomas will certainly be refreshed and ready for some more play in a few hours.
