Carnie's back in town!

The town carnival has arrived for a few days. The Lamas Fair fills Market and South Street, gradually growing over the course of the week until the final huge rides are erected at a point where just watching them nearly graze the ancient buildings is just as thrilling as getting on (and much cheaper!). Yesterday, Isaiah got to ride the little train. The anticipation and desire were much greater than the enjoyment, but it was fun nonetheless. "Carnie" is a good word for Isaiah right now because he has suddenly changed his vocabulary to include many "ie" words. We went to the harbor and saw "boaties", we like to play at the "parkie", we drink "milkie", we eat "eggies", we read "bookies", we play with a fire "truckie", he hides behind my "leggies", and, most often used, Isaiah wants to "get upie". He's seemingly not doing it for attention, it is as if he's always talked this way. Luke is sure it is something I have encouraged, but other than nakie, jammies, and cutie, I know I haven't contributed to the "ie" stage. It's pretty cute, though, and I'll enjoy it while it lasts :)

From my limited experience with younglings, I think they all talk that way once they hit a certain age. And it is adorable and cute and I'd not want it to change...until of course they are old enough to speak correctly and it's no longer cute, but just annoying.

We are still at the very limited stage of speech, where most things are "bah!" or "dah!" With a few "mama," "dada," "go, and "uh-oh's" sprinkled in for good measure.
