On the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond

This past weekend, we went on a little trip across Scotland to Loch Lomond. We rented a wee flat near the lake, which we found to be perfect when traveling with a wee one. Usually, I am a bit disappointed by whatever accommodation I've tracked down online once we arrive on scene. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this little place exceeded my expectations. The real kicker was the dishwasher! I didn't think I was going to get out of doing dishes on this trip, but I did, and it was such a treat! In addition to dirtying countless dishes and running the dishwasher, we did get out and explore the area.

Our first walk along Loch Lomond. We actually got a few periods of sunshine on this, the "wet side of the island".
Luke did a great job coping with driving on the "wrong" side of the car and road, as always. We found a couple road signs that were picture worthy -

Other variations of this phrase include "dead tired" and, most commonly, "dead easy."
I found the cute politeness of this sign to be quite convincing. Indeed, 20mph is fast enough for this street. Thank you for the suggestion. Our friends, Daniel and Adriel ended up taking a trip to the same area of Scotland this weekend, too, so they stayed with us for a night. These are our breakfast crepes, made by Adriel.
Family pic on the bonnie banks. We were again grateful for some non-rainy hours, although the wind was still pretty strong and chilly.
We took a boat tour on Loch Lomond. This is a good shot of Isaiah's "cold wind in my face" look.
On our way back to St. Andrews, we did a bit of exploring. We ended up driving a ways on the wrong road, but it was a beautiful drive, and we couldn't have been any closer to this lake -
We eventually came upon some hiking trails, which was our main objective for an on-the-way-home activity. The trip took about 1 1/2 hours. It was on this hike that we realized that Isaiah has really begun to perfect the cheesy "smile at the camera" thing. We were so thankful for this little guy on the trip! Having not been in a car or a carseat for 4 months, he could have been quite fussy being strapped down for hours. He was such a trooper, though, and we really enjoyed exploring this part of Scotland with our little guy.

Your little man is absolutely adorable, especially framed by such amazing scenery. You two take fabulous photos and I love looking at them!

Great photos! So glad you got a family vacation. I can't believe what you said about not being a car for 4 months. Since I commute in the car two hours every day, that sounds like heaven! Wanna trade lives? :)

I love hearing about your adventures!

He's so cute! I can't believe how he is growing. We still can't wait to meet him and introduce him to his new friend. You all look like you are enjoying this wonderful experience!
