Thanksgiving Weekend

Happy belated Thanksgiving to all you Americans out there! We've had a nice holiday weekend (aside from a lingering bout with a tummy bug that has claimed 2 victims so far). We enjoyed a full traditional meal with a group of 14 friends from church. Our contributions included cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole (with imported fried onions) and pumpkin pie. The handful of Scottish friends are amazed each year by how excited the Americans get about this meal. I don't think some of the dishes appeal very much to British tastes (green bean casserole, stuffing and pumpkin pie, to name a few), but the rest of us stuffed ourselves and we all played games into the evening. Here's our family Thanksgiving pic -
On Friday, Luke was still recovering from jetlag, so we had a relatively relaxing day. We made the turn towards Christmas by decorating our little tree, drinking hot apple cider, and playing holiday music all day long. Isaiah is much more interested in Christmas decorations this year, which is really fun! He points out lights in windows and on trees all through the town.
On Saturday, we went to the park, and Isaiah learned that the slides are a lot more fun when Daddy's around!
Saturday night was the annual Christmas lighting ceremony and fireworks in St Andrews. The lighting ceremony was a little anti-climactic, but it was still very festive. We had to wander around town for quite a while to fill the time between that and the fireworks, but the little display over the North Sea was worth it. Isaiah was awed by the show, hardly blinking for the duration. Here's a pic of the crowd in the center of town for the big lighting moment. The lights stay on from now until sometime in February.

Wow, a true Tallon Thanksgiving with a celebration of 2 or more holidays in one weekend. We never did fit fireworks in until the first of the year, though.

It looked like fun and it looks cold. Love, Roxanne

Hey Holly! Thanks for your not on our blog- mostly, I feel tired and sick. The biggest misconception I've had so far is that morning sickness just happens in the morning!! It seems to come out of nowhere and I am ready for it to end. But I suppose it means everything is progressing as it should, so I'll try to be thankful... :)
